If you loved Cabin Fever then you will love Winterfest in Almonte!

Many shops are open this weekend so do come out for some browsing and tasty treats while you enjoy the fun activities:

There is an unofficial snowman building competition happening in the park behind the post office (snap a photo of your snow sculpture and tag @Destination.Almonte on socials when you post your entry!).

Hummingbird Chocolate Maker & Café is hosting a hot chocolate bar that you will not want to miss!

Come out and enjoy a free kid-friendly movie on Family Day Monday at 10am at the Almonte Old Town Hall. The movie feature is 'The Wild Robot' and being put on by the municipality and the Mississippi Mills Youth Centre will be hosting the canteen.

After the movie, enjoy a FREE public skate at the John Levi Community Centre in Almonte from 1-3pm (or the Stewart Community Centre in Pakenham from 2-4pm.) If you have any questions about the movie or rink time, please email events@mississippimills.ca

Come out to the Friendly Town of Almonte from September 7th to 8th for the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum’s 29th Annual Fibrefest.

Hosted at two locations; the Almonte Community Centre and the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum.

Local guilds will demonstrate spinning, knitting, weaving, rug hooking, lacemaking, smocking and quilting.

Vendors include finished fibre goods and other textile-related supplies from across the province, as well as quilt shops and alpaca farms.

Vendors and Demonstrations on the 7th, 10am-5pm, and 8th, 10am-4pm

Admission to Fibrefest is $5.00 per day, which gives you access to the two sites.

Puppets Up! was started in 2004 by a group of fun people in Almonte (inspired and led by Noreen Young, the visionary puppet creator behind “Hi Diddle Day” and “Under The Umbrella Tree”) who wanted to entertain and inform people about the varied and vibrant art of puppetry, something common to virtually all cultures.

The festival draws crowds from across the country and around the world to see puppeteers and street performers in intimate theatres and against the backdrop of Almonte’s historic main street.

Celtfest is a fun weekend of Ottawa Valley and Celtic entertainment, performed in the natural amphitheater of Gemmill Park in the heart of Almonte. It is a time to share the historical Celtic traditions with today’s local performers. Celtfest also presents a select group of unique artisans and vendors of specialty goods with a Celtic flair. Donations are welcomed at the gate.
